White Bait Head
The head to match the body. Always key to have the right jig head and we spared no expense in testing this one to get it right. The standard option is a tarpon hook we dare you to straighten. (well not dare so much, it's possible, but we've yet to lose a fish from it)
Not only is this hook strong, we find the angle of the hook point favors mouth hooks and is less snag prone than other versions/heads tested. We also have this same head in a circle hook option and can run custom hooks (bigger gap, lighter, etc) upon request.
We now also offer a 1/2oz head for shallow water and beach fishing. This is a different head style, called a manic mullet. This head uses a different hook, but not lacking strength. 2x strong is the new 1x.
These heads are poured with a small bait keeper. While effective, over time larger baits can cause it to fail. This is common with all but screw locks, which are overly effective, mangling the bait when a good fish hits. We prefer, when possible, to crush the bait keeper a bit and use a dab of super glue to firmly hold the head in place.
We find the super glue is as effective as any bait keeper out there, when done correctly. And when a big fish does pull your bait body back, the glue bond is what fails not the rubber itself. That means your bait is generally fixable with a dab more glue for much more fishing. Add a bottle of Mend-It (check the listing if you haven't heard of it) and you're catching handfuls of fish on one body.
If you need a specific head size you don't see or would like to put in a custom color order please shoot us a note, we're happy to accommodate when possible.
