Nothing new about a squid bait. They've been around forever, probably because fish love them. This one isn't your grandpa's squid jig, though. Taking the best, flashiest and/or most realistic of today's skirts and putting them on a versatile lineup of heads, we've taken the squid lure to the next level. This group includes a wide lineup to cover almost any scenario you can think of...we think...
the Multi-Head
This is the head that takes things to the next level. All heads are hand cast lead with bronze (or stainless on the extra strong options) eyelets. These are available in any configuration but the most common is all 3 eyelets for maximum fishability. If you intend to fish a jig only one or two purpose, however, we can eliminate eyelets to get them out of your way. These jigs are available 2 ounce through 6 ounce, in a variety of powder paint options and with or without 3D eyes. (the skirts all include glow eyes)
On the back end we've got even more options for you. Off the cast-in eyelet, we run a standard oval split ring to attach your setup. We can leave it at that for you experienced anglers or include the assist rig (single or dancing) so you're ready to fish. The nice thing with these lures is you can change out your assist hooks as needed or swap purposes all together to be a teaser or lead weight for another lure or live bait. Speaking of live bait, we don't want to leave you die hards out. Yep, this can easily be fished with live bait on the assist hook. Instead of bump trolling an eyesore of a rubber core in front, run your wire off the split ring (and keep the assist in the event of short strikes...just watch the hooks when leadering) to your live bait. Everyone likes a 2 for 1... These come with rubber squid skirts over mylar as standard. Also available with bucktail or feathers included. |
the Teaser Head
Same head as above but we remove the top two eyelets and just leave the front and rear. When the head gets poured for these we include a snap swivel on the rear eyelet to allow much easier swap out of baits. Whether you're leading a live/trolled bait or using as part of a daisy chain or umbrella, these are the perfect way to add weight to your setup without ruining the natural look.
Not real comfortable with assist hooks or dealing with split rings somewhat buried in the skirt? We can also take this same back end swivel attachment and include all the top eyelets. If you really want to be able to use this things but don't have the time or dexterity to deal with split rings, this is the easy answer. Slap a rigged squid ballyhoo behind it, snap it into or in front of your daisy chain or just put an appropriately sized "J" hook on it and fish away. Same as above, the standard is a rubber squid skirt over mylar flash. As with any of our jigs, we'll make it how you want. |
the Straight Squid Jig
The head that started the dive into squid jigs. Straight forward, heavy hook, top attach. Initially thought of as a shallow-mid depth vertical jig, which it still does well, reviews were coming in about other uses. Our favorite was pulling those bigger mahi out from under schools. Drop it down while your having a blast with those schoolies and let the waves do the work. Just don't be surprised if that drag starts screaming with a wahoo too.
These are available in 1 ounce through 6 ounces. A variety of skirt/hair/feather/flash options available. Our favorite is a squid skirt over bucktail, feather and some mylar flash. It's sure to grab attention! |
